These dogs are beatiful dogs that are very strong companions! They do great with other dogs and pets and also children ! These dogs are very intelligent and get really bored easily if they have no variety ! These dogs are great dogs but need a daily walk ! The normal height for this breed is 22 to 23 inches and the normal weight is 60 to 70 pounds ! These dogs are common health issues are cancer , hip dysplasia,PRA,CHD,epilepsy ,and diabetes sometimes occur ! THESE DOGS ARE NOT APARTMENT DOGS THEY AT LEAST NEED AN AVERAGE SIZED YARD!These dogs need a daily walk or jog to be a good boy or girl ! These dogs also love to take part in hunting and swimming ! They live to be about 10 years ! These dogs need a weekly brushing and a little trim when needed and they are average shedders! This dog started out in the 1800's when many different kind of retriever and spaniels dogs where bred such has Newfoundland , Irish Setter, Labrador , Water Spaniels , and possible Collie. These dogs were used to fisherman and hunters . These dogs are meant for this job they have a great nose , excellent swimmers , and work very well in mushy areas . The talents of these dogs were retrieving , hunting , tracking, watchdog, and agility!
