Sudan, Darfur : urgence !!! Just for a smile, just for 6 million lives ...

Welcome on this blog !
My name is Lucile, I am 15 years old and I am French.
This blog won't be a blog like the other, it is a message for the world.
Sudan is an African country and there is a great war there since 2004 and it has done 400 000 dead and 2,4 million refugees. Please do something ! Talk about this blog to everybody !

( Warning : if you are less than 8 years old, don't continue because the pictures are violent. If you really want to see, then ask your parents. Thank you. )

Presentation of Sudan :

Sudan is a country on the African continent, between Egypt, Libya, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Central African Republic and Erithrea.
Is surface is of 2 505 810 km² and it is the biggest country of the continent.
The country is populated of 36 198 000 Sudanese. Its capital is Khartoum.
The officials languages are English and Arabic ( and also Dinka ) but many other are spoken.
The Sudanese are Sunni Muslim ( 70% of the population especially in the North ), indigenous beliefs ( 25% of the population ) and Christian ( 5% of the population especially in the south and in Khartoum ).

Now, I will speak only about that region : Darfur.
This region is located at the West of Sudan, in the Sahara ( you can see on the map : South Darfur, North Darfur and West Darfur ). It is mainly populated by Muslim populations ( except in the South part ).
Its surface is of 510 000 km² and there are around 6 million inhabitants there.
3 tribes are present in this region : the Furs, the Masalits and the Zaghawas.

The problems started first by the Second Sudanese Civil War, in 1983. This war opposed the rebels of the south to the Sudanese government. It lasted around 20 years and it has done 2 million dead.
The region has a very low level of development : only 1/3 girls goes at the primary school (for 44,5 % of the boys).
The discovery of oil in this region also caused covetousness's.

During the winter 2003, the opposition to the Sudanese president Omar El-Bechir made hearing its voice. In reprisals, Khartoum lets to act the Arab militia (Janjaweeds directed by Choukratalla, former officer of the Sudanese army) in all Darfur.
The Sudanese armies bombard the villages of Darfur. The populations are victims of armed bands that the government of Khartoum seems to let make. More serious, humanitarians and diplomats show the government to have armed and paid Janjaweeds...

Many famines:

With not enough food to go around, aid workers sometimes use a stick to determine who eats. Smaller, weaker children are given dry cereal. Those taller than the stick are turned away. 'There are so many children arriving every day,' one nurse said. 'If I didn't just focus on the job in front of me I would break down.'

Food deliveries do not come often to Darfur. The United Nations air dropped aid last week for the first time in 40 days. Most of the thousands of tons of food that comes to Southern Sudan each month is air dropped. On the ground, aid workers armed with short-wave radios and satellite telephones try to organize distribution. But moving the food once it's on the ground is difficult. Infrastructure has been wrecked by drought and a 15-year civil war. In some areas, it can take nearly an hour to drive a mere 10 miles.

400 000 dead :

A genocide ? Yes, I can say it is.
The destructions, the burned ground policy ( attacks and flight of the cattle, burnt fields) , the shaved villages force the populations to leave.
The first victims of this war are the children : many young girls are raped and their parents are victims of murders.
They also suffer of diarrheal diseases, wounds, pneumonias, fevers, malnutrition (a bowl per day of assida = a mixture of flour and water)...

2 400 000 :

It is the number of the Darfurian refugees. Many have left the region to go to Chad. But many others are still in Darfur, in refugees' camps in the cities of Ardamata, Zalingeï, Mourneï, Niertiti, El-Geneïna or Riyad. The refugees are especially women and children. They are very too many in these camps, and then many can't stay and sleep in these camps. There is also an insecurity...

The ONG, the world food Program and Office of the High Commission of the United Nations for the refugees complain. The lack of safety obstructs the work of ONG. Several Sudanese humane workers were removed. The Sudanese president is accused...

What is doing the world ?

Georges W. Bush ( United States of America ): nothing...
Nicolas Sarkozy ( France ): nothing...
Vladimir Poutine ( Russia ): nothing...
Tony Blair ( United Kingdom ) : nothing...
Omar El-Bechir ( Sudan ): nothing...
Hu Jintao ( China ): nothing...
Mohammed Hosni Moubarak ( Egypt ): nothing...
Akihito and Shinzô Abe ( Japan ): nothing...
Angela Merkel ( Germany ): nothing...
And all others... : nothing...

If you understand, any government want to help Sudan...

How can the Darfurian men act ?

Many men are engaged in rebellious army to fight the Janjaweeds.
But many are killed...

With the refugees' camps where there are too many people, the children have to go looking for water in the desert. They need to cross all the desert ( the Sahara ) to find water. The desert is also supervised by the Janjaweeds then the children have to make a turning of maybe five or six kilometres ! Many children are found killed or captured and young girls are raped.

I have found a game ( not really a game but an experience ) where you can see how is life in a refugees' camp in Darfur : here.

It was in 1945...it is now...

Maybe you were not born, but in 1945, in Germany, around 6 million Jews died because of their origins and religion. After that, we said " Never again "...
But in the years 1975 to 1979, in Cambodia, 2 to 3 million Cambodians died because of the Red Khmers. After that, we said " Never again "...
But in the years 1994, 500 000 Tutsis ( people of Rwanda ) died because of the Hutus. After that, we said " Never again "...
But in 1995, many people from Bosnia died because of a Serbian ( Slobodan Milosevic ). After that, we said " Never again "...
But in 2007, 300 000 people are died and 2 500 000 are refugees because of ourselves... And after that, will we say " Never again " ? No, we can't continue to let the Janjaweeds kill the people from Darfur...

The other problems...

Many children are also used as soldiers. This is again an international problem because there are children soldiers in the African countries ( like Sudan, Ethiopia,... ) in war, in Sri Lanka, in Iraq, in North Korea... The UNICEF tries to stop this but it is too difficult. Then some children are still used as soldiers.
Adults are used as slaves by the Janjaweeds.

Would you like to finish your life like him ( or her ) ?

If you are on the site, it is maybe because you have received my private message and I am not disappointed of the numbers of people who came there just because they wanted to see...When, I started to send this message, there were only 200 people and today, I am sure that 2900 people in the World know what it is happening in Sudan.
I had many good reactions except one. It was a German girl of 20 years old who said me : " You are really stupid to do that ! When there is a war in another country, you'll send me another message to save those people ? ". Now, I can see that there are really idiot people !

You can let me a message in my Guest book there or you can go in my survey there.

And the stars of Hollywood in this war ?

Georges Clooney, an American actor, has gone to Darfur in 2006. He tried to change the American opinion. Many newspaper have spoken of that war on the television after that but I don't know if Americans are mobilized now...
There are also Angelina Joli who is mobilized for Darfur and some French people as Bernard Kouchner or Nicolas Hulot.

Just peace in Sudan...

Just for a smile, just for 6 million lives ... help them ...
