SMK (A) Tun Ahmad Zaidi managed to set up the fight Muslim community leaders in Sarawak especially in Kuching, to promote awareness of Islamic education in the state. Muslim community must have worldly knowledge and Islamic education to enable them to advance in all aspects of community life and thus be respected by other people in this multiracial country.

            The school also aims to produce quality and Muslims into the Islamic leaders that would continue and maintain the existing Muslim leadership today.

            Before the school was founded, School Datuk Abdul Rahman (SEDAR) has been opened to provide opportunities for Muslim children who fail to pursue their education in government schools for failing the exam 'Common Entrance'. But when the 'Common Entrance' off in 1974, SEDAR was closed.

            SEDAR closure did not deter the Muslim community leaders to continue their struggle for the promotion of Islamic education in the state. Establishment of Darul Falah in 1981 which aims, among others, to expand education among the Muslim community in Sarawak once again provide an opportunity for leaders of the Muslim community to realize their intentions. Datuk Haji Anis Abot appointed to be the President of the Sarawak Islamic Council in 1985 has sought to continue the struggle of the local Muslim community leaders to establish religious schools in the state. On the effort that the establishment of the Islamic Council of Religious Primary School in 1985.

            School of Islamic Religious Assistance was opened on 1 December 1990. Establishment further opportunities to the children of this state of the Muslim community to pursue their studies in the school of religious as well as the Government School of Religion Sheikh Othman Abdul Wahab, Government Secondary School Maturity Religion, Religious School Sibu and Miri Religious School.

            Formation process is accelerated when the parents of the pupils of SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan increasingly demanding the Islamic Council to establish a religious school to enable the children to continue their secondary education at the same school. The success of the Honourable Datuk Abang Haji Johari Bin Tun Abang Haji Openg and the Honorable Mayor Anis bin Haji Abot in convincing the state government at the time about the importance of the establishment of this school and the administration is very significant way. As a result of this success, the Sarawak Islamic Council has appointed Al-Marhum Khalid Haji Kaderi as officers will be responsible for handling registrations and protect the interests and needs of this school. The school is registered as a government-aided schools. With the Sarawak Islamic Council through the Islamic Religious Department will be responsible for the physical development of temporary administration, curriculum and professional, student and teacher placement is under the control of the Sarawak Education Department.

            Although the main purpose of the opening at the moment is to place students in SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan, but in line with his desire to produce a quality community, the school has also received Islamic students from government primary schools around Kuching City at the time.

            The new school opened it was riding on some of the classrooms in SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan completed until permanent premises in 1997. On January 31, 1997, the school moved to new premises adjacent to SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan on a site of 80 acres with a total construction cost of RM20 million. The school was inaugurated on May 19, 1997.

            In accordance with the provisions of the Education Act 1991, all secondary schools have been turned into national schools, the school changed its name to NATIONAL SCHOOL OF ISLAMIC COUNCIL OF. During the festival the response of the 10th year on June 6, 2001, the school was named the NATIONAL SCHOOL OF Tun Ahmad Zaidi as a commemoration of leadership, efforts and contributions of al-Marhum Tun Ahmad Zaidi bin Mohammad Nor Adruce The Speaker of the State of five.
