RITSURIN PARK - the garden, now celebrated as one of the best in Japan
(Takamatsu city, Kagawa Prefecture)


It was first constructed by Takatoshi Ikoma, about 370 years ago.
It was taken over by Yorishige Matsudaira, the 1st Load of Takamatsu from the Shogun's relative,
and was completed by Yoritaka Matsudaira, the 5th Load, after 100 years under construction.
For a long period of 228 years ending with the Meiji Restoration (the end of "Samurai Era"),
the park was used as a villa for the 11 Lords of the Matsudaira family.
