I am a doctoral student and high school administrator in New Jersey and would like to speak with any educators from Finland who would be interested in beginning a discourse. I am interested in the profound improvement in Finnish student achievement and would like to understand in a more qualitative manner the real changes which have occurred. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you -- of course I am monolingual so I am hoping your ability to communicate in English will demonstrate the superiority of your educational system!

Primary school - "4th grade friends wanted"

I have 18 lively, little Texans excited to exchange cards, drawings, and letters with other students 9-10 years of age via regular mail in another English speaking country. We would like to write about once a month throughout the school year to learn more about children in other places. My school has more interested students if you know more students excited about writing to Texans. Thanks!

Middle school - "Looking for African Students to Penpal"

Once again Hello,

I am a representative of the African Student Organization in the United States at Binghamton University. Our organization is looking to develop a penpal program with African students across the world where they can receive a mentor from our school who will help guide them, answer any questions, exchange culture and language, and break new barriers. It would be a great opportunity for students to have college age students of all majors at their discretion. We also want to start some fun (inexpensive) international exchange between African classrooms and African students with students in our University as well as students in our district.

We are looking into Primary Schools, Middle Schools, and High Schools, and Universities. We want to get as many schools and classrooms in Africa on Board because we have some great things we want to start that will not only enrich our understanding of various African cultures, many of which we come from, but to enhance your understanding of us as well.

Please I stress that you contact me because we want to get this program going before the end of the school year!

Please check our Facebook page @ http://www.facebook.com/BingASO

Thank you for your time,

Uloaku I.

High school - "Cultural Experiences"

Hello!
I am looking for classes to enhance our cultural and language experiences from all over the world. We are from a small city near Philadelphia whose students have limited travel opportunity and would benefit from the enhanced learning only one-on-one experiences can bring. They would be interested in corresponding with students from Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. I would like to open up their horizons and perhaps your students' horizons as well.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Middle school - "French/Spanish and English exchange"

I teach at walkersville Middle School in Maryland in the United States. My name is Nissa Quill and you can google my school or my name if you need to check me out. I speak English and teach French and Spanish to students ages 12-14.

I would like to propose that we do the exchange through edmodo.com.

It's free and I have set up three forums for kids. They can have no communication
that is not monitored by teachers. If you join I will make you a co-teacher
and then we can make assignments for the students and they can post to one
another. The way I have set it up is to make a group where they will write
exclusively in each language. Students should join both the group for their
native language and their target language so that they can have authentic
interactions in both. After enrolling in edmodo, you just us the code to
join.

Check out edmodo and see if you like it. If not, we can try another way.

Here are the group codes....

French exchange code: kabmw7
English exchange code: zw7bk6
Spanish exchange code: 1hv723

High school - "Looking for classroom pen pals to learn about other cultures and schools"

Hello fellow teachers!

I teach high school English & literature to 14 - 16 year-old students. They are all native speaking except for one exchange student. We are from a smaller town in Michigan, USA and I would like to help my students learn about cultures and schools in other areas of the world. I am looking for a couple other classrooms to exchange letters with once a month. I have about 35 students in each class and I would like all of my students to have individual pen pais. Let me know if you are interested and we can set something up through email.
I look forward to hearing from you!

http://www.wall.k12.nj.us/site/schools/hs.asp
