Hi, I'm a 5th grade teacher in Texas. I'd like to find pen-pals for my students this year! It doesn't matter if your class is inside/outside of the U.S. - any opportunity to practice writing is great. My students are all bilingual (Eng/Span), so they can send and receive letters in both languages. I'm not sure how many students I will have for the 2014 - 2015 school year, approx. 15-25.
I'd like to plan maybe 1 time each month to exchange our letters (we could collect our whole class' letters and mail them at once). And maybe pick different types of writing...like persuasive, expository, personal, etc.

I am a high school teacher in the state of Massachusetts, USA. I am looking to establish correspondence with a Spanish speaking school throughout the school year. I teach 4 different classes so it would be hard to set up an individual to individual pen pal exchange but I am interested in exchanging letters throughout the year written by the class as a whole on a given topic agreed upon by myself and the other teacher. We would write out letters in English and the Spanish speaking school in Spanish and I would use the letter to complete various activities in the class. (Ej. vocabulary, culture, grammar). I am a high school French in Maine, USA. My students are between 14-18 years old and are in their second or third year of learning the French language. I teach 7th grade Social Studies (12-13 years old) in California. In June of this year, I will be traveling to Tokyo and Kyoto for leisure. I want to incorporate teaching/my class somehow into my trip. My students are interested in writing letters to Japanese students to share with them what they've learned about Japan in my class, what their lives are like, etc. They are eager to share and to gain Japanese pen pals so that they can learn about life in Japan, too. I would like to find a penpal for my class to write to. I teach 4th grade Reading and I have a total of 16 students who are slow readers and need an opportunity to enhance their reading and writing skills. I think writting to someone they don't know will help them appreciate another culture and give them the practice they so desperately need. I have a fondness for Brazil because I have a foreign exchange student from there that I still keep in touch with.

I created a Hispanic cultural group this year, consisting of about 38 Hispanic students between the ages of 11-14, and would like to connect each of them with one international pen pal. My hope in doing so is to expose them to a giant, wonderful world outside of North Carolina's borders, which will maybe broaden their plans for their futures.
All of them speak English and Spanish, with the exception of one who only speaks Spanish. I'm open to communicating through e-mail or letters.
