Although being a lawyer can be a very demanding job with some occasional downsides, there are also many attributes to the job that will be pleasing. Becoming a lawyer is not easy, as it takes years of law school and is an extremely difficult profession. I also wish to pursue law in the future, and I partake in mock-trial at my school as well as have been taking intro to law courses at a community college as an extra curricular activity besides my demanding role at high-school. One of the hardest roles as a lawyer is a defense attorney. As a defense attorney, you are often required to defend people who you feel likely deserve punishment. Not only is it hard to defend someone who you do not agree with, but it is even harder to win a case when it is obvious that suspect is guilty. This requires a lot of research and time. Long, demanding hours are another disappointing attribute to the profession. However, there are many great reasons to pursue law. Graduating law school is very respectable and lawyers are generally very well paid. Law is a very competitive profession yet sometimes challenging. Subjects dealing with law can be found to be very intellectually and conceptually challenging, and for others quite boring. However I believe that there is nothing boring about law, even with the long hours and stressful cases, I think that the practice of law should be considered as one of the most riveting topics that one could imagine.

1240 -
modify delete 1818 - Reply from Tara91 , 13 yrs (USA) - 2009-11-14

Lawyers are not boring, though that's funny to you, it is a serious job. Just wait, one day you'll need a lawyer because you are accused of murder, and I won't help you! :P
