Those are not golden fishes, i don't like them much, i have some lebistes reticulatus, alias guppies. You can easily have babies and make them grow up.
I have a fish tank of my own and I love it!! You can always start off with a small one and see how you like it then go bigger.... One piece of advice I'd give you is you don't have to clean as often as you think. The fish need it a little dirtier then you think. Getting a snail keeps away the algae leaving it clean enough that you only have to change it once a month.
