35342 - from Madeline (USA) - 2010-08-10 Primary school : "Looking for pen pals - grade 5 (10-11 years old)" I am a fifth grade teacher in Staten Island, NY. I am looking for pen pals for my class. I would like to begin in September. We need countries that can communicate in English and children that are 10-11 years old. It would be nice if we could write letters as well as send emails. I am a Third grade teacher from Washington state who is looking for penpals for my class of 24 students. Last year My daughter and I traveled to New York where she showed her Basset Hound at the Westminster Dog show in February. I visited Ellis Island and Staten Island when I was there last year. I wondered if there is anyone in your school that teaches third grade that would be interested. I would love to do a video of my community, school and students to share with this class. We also have a webcam we could use. I may also be traveling back to New York in February for the next Westminster Show because my daughter qualified again to come. My town is a small rural one. 36814 - Reply from Agata (Poland) - 2010-10-06 I don't know if you are still looking for pen-pals for your students, but just let me say we are interested :) I teach grade 4 (mainly 10-year-old kids, but one of them is only 9) in Poland. I'm an English teacher and as an additional English lesson I started an "English with computer" lessons. One of our first activities (done today) was registrating on this page and next we will try to communicate with kids from other countries. As you see, I love writing / talking too much :D My students are at a beginner levels, though they have been learning English for 4 years (past 3 years mostly vocabulary and simple expressions). It would be extremaly motivating for them to talk to kids from the USA. OK, that's enough from me; probably you were bored somewhere in the middle... Let me know if you read the message, even if the idea of communicating does not fit you.
