117104 - from Cathy (USA) - 2017-08-05 Primary school : "2nd grade USA classroom looking for pen pals" Hello ... I am a second grade teacher (ages 6-8) in Florida, USA. School will be starting next week and I am looking for a classroom that would like to become penpals and exchange letters and information (snailmail or email, we can do both) ..I currently have 18 students listed on the roster, but school hasn't started so that number could vary a little up or down! Please respond if you are interested.

This is my first foray in having pen-pals for my students, but I really think it would be a neat experience for them to converse through mail with students outside of their classroom! My students are living in a lower socio-economic area and could really use the experience of interacting with other students, and to also help give more meaning and substance to their letter writing and socializing skills. I have a wonderful group of 18 students who I have looped with, so this is my 2nd year with most of them. I hope to hear back from you soon. I will need to get my administrations approval as well before beginning the process, but I would ideally like to assign students with a pen-pal they can relate to and look forward to getting to know. Perhaps at some point, we could set up a skype sort of event as the culmination of the project, but let's get the ball rollig first! I hope I hear back from you! What part of Florida are you located in?
