| Hi Venus,
It's great to hear from you so soon!
To be honest, it's the first time I've tried to get pen pals for my students and I'm indeed quite happy with the 'old-fashioned' way (writing actual letters as opposed to spending yet more time glued to the computer).
As for the next step, I guess we can make up our own 'rules'.
My students are on vacation at the moment (they come back to school on the 1st of September) but I'd like to have the pen pals sorted as soon as possible so that the kids can start corresponding when the schoolyear begins.
Are your students still at school? If they are, they could each write a letter addressed to an unknown French student and I could hand the letters over to my students in September. Otherwise, they can do that when school starts again. In any case, you could send all the letters to my home address (which would be the most convenient way for me) or to the school (if you feel more comfortable sending them there, which I can understand). The school is called Collège Les Cèdres, it's in Castres (a medium-sized town in the South of France).
The students who will be getting pen pals are in quatrième (the equivalent of 8th grade in the US) and I'll have 2 groups that is to say around 55 kids. Maybe they could correspond with your 2 classes of 8th grade and a few of your students in 7th grade...
Could you also give me some more information about your school?
Hope to hear from you again soon.
Mylène
