118449 - de Irene (Espagne) - 2017-09-18 : "CONNECTING STUDENTS" Hola: My name is Irene Lema, and I teach a Spanish in a High school in the countryside to the north of Madrid. I am very interested in setting up an exchange programme (exchanging letters, e-mails or souvenirs) with an English speaking school.I think this might be a great chance for our two schools to work closely together , I teach the following groups: One class with 32 students (age 12-13) Two classes with 32 students each (age 16-18) I would be happy to organise the exchange any of the groups. Our school's setting is a peaceful town in beautiful countryside some 45 minutes from Madrid by bus (the service is excellent). Madrid has a host of cultural, sporting and recreational attractions, and is also well located for other Spanish gems like the ancient cities of Segovia and Toledo. We could help your students strengthen their English skills while the students in our club receive insight on what it is to be living in another country. It could be a great opportunity for the students. Let me know if you are interested in sending letters, email would be fine too. I can take one of your classes with the ages of 16-18, since that's the same age group I have.

118510 - Réponse de Sarah (USA) - 2017-09-20 Hi Irene, I saw your message and am very interested. I teach Spanish 1, AP Spanish, and Spanish Literature at a high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My AP Spanish students asked me today if we could find pen pals to write to. I think it would be extremely beneficial for them to have authentic relationships with Spanish speaking students. I only have 12 students in my AP class (11 girls, and 1 boy). I can ask the Spanish 3 teacher if her students would be interested. We would love to work with you all! Thank you, Sarah Toews
