School : "Inyernational Teaching opportunities"

Hi everyone.

I have been dormant for sooo long, since i registered into studentsoftheworld. Been soooo busy.
My question is on international teaching jobs.

I am a teacher, by profession, and teach Math and Business studies at a local High school in Kenya. I have been at my current station for over 6 years, and the trvel bug is biting. I have applied - over the net - for various teaching positions, and is suddenly realizing that the world isn't the global village i thought it was, considering the many walls i have encountered in my quest. I have evev tried recruitment agencies most of which advise me to attend school fairs, get more qualifications (?), etc etc. Hence my questions.

What qualifications does one need to qualify for a math teaching job abroad ?- I hold a Bachelors degree from a local internationally recognized University, in Education ( Math major, Accounting minor).

And what is the best way of accessing these teaching positions?

Any replies/ help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Rachel.

Hi Rachel,

Wow, as far as I know math and science is one of the subjects that are in demand, if you are applying for an overseas teaching position, one of the requirements is to have TESOL/TEFL/ CELTA or others since you are not considered as native English speaker. your chances of getting a position is high just surf the internet and apply 3-4 months before the school opens.

Am sure you can find one. I am a science teacher and I came from non native speaker country .I was able to find one on the net.

Nancy
