2) Der unbestimmte Artikel (the indefinite article)
There are two different indefinite articles:
for masculine and neuter nouns (definite article: der and das): ein ['AIN]
e.g.: der Baum = the tree
ein Baum = a tree
das Wort = the word
ein Wort = a word
for feminine nouns (definite article: die): eine ['AI-NE]
e.g.: die Schule = the school
eine Schule = a school
|
|
3) Der Plural (the plural)
a) Articles
The definite article for all nouns in the plural is: die
As in English, there's no indefinite article in the plural.
|
|
b) Nouns
Unfortunately the plural forms of the nouns are very irregular. Though there seem to be rules, you can't really rely on them. That's why I'm going to add the plural form of every noun from now on.
These are the plural forms of the nouns we've already learned:
das Haus - die Häuser
der Baum - die Bäume
der Tanz - die Tänze
die Sonne - die Sonnen
die Schule - die Schulen
die Sprache - die Sprachen
das Tier - die Tiere
das Wort - die Wörter
das Auto - die Autos
