UNIT 2

Now you already now the basic sentences, so it's time to do some grammar now, because otherwise you'll never be able to build your own sentences. Of course you also need more vocabulary.
UNIT 2 A

Vokabeln (Vocabulary):
das Haus

der Baum

die Sonne

die Schule

sehen

gehen
DAS 'HAUS

DEA 'BAUM

DI: 'SO-NE

DI: 'SHU:-LE

SE:-HEN

GE:-HEN
the house

the tree

the sun

the school

to see

to go
UNIT 2 B

Grammatik (Grammar):
1) Groß- und Kleinschreibung (upper and lower case)

In German all nouns are written with a capital letter at the beginning, as well as names and words at the beginning of a sentence.
2) Der bestimmte Artikel (the definite article)

You've probably realized, that there are different articles in German:

der, die and das

Unfortunately there's no rule; you must just learn the words together with their articles.

3) Personalpronomen (personal pronouns)

ich

du

er/sie/es

wir

ihr

sie
IX

DU:

EA/SI:/ES

WIA

I:A

SI:
I

you

he/she/it

we

you

they
4) Konjugation (conjugation)

a) regular verbs

example: gehen (to go)

ich gehe

du gehst

er/sie/es geht

wir gehen

ihr geht

sie gehen

All regular verbs have this conjugation!

IX 'GE:-HE

DU: 'GE:ST

EA/SI:/ES 'GE:T

WIA 'GE:-HEN

I:A 'GE:T

SI: 'GE:-HEN

b) An irregular verb

sehen (to see)

ich sehe

du siehst

er/sie/es sieht

wir sehen

ihr seht

sie sehen

IX 'SE:-HE

DU: 'SI:ST

EA/SI:/ES SI:T

WIA SE:-HEN

I:A SE:T

SI: SE:-HEN
Now you can start building your first sentences:

Ich sehe das Haus.
Du siehst das Haus.
etc.

Ich sehe die Schule.
Du siehst die Schule.
etc.

But now you have to pay attention with the article "der"!!!
It changes to "den"!

Ich sehe den Baum.
Du siehst den Baum.
etc.

This case is called Akkusativ (akkusative).
