Bee - "Kenyan Hive"

Hi everyone.
Who is currently breeding bees through kenyan hives.
I'd like to get more information in order to start myself that kind of breed.
Which race will be the more adapted for the mid-european continental weather ?

Thanks in advance for the help ! Take care.

Bee - "Did you know Bees dance? ^^"

Hi guys, i just came to check out this forum. See who else can appreciate bees haha. I'm actually studying language and communication at university and something very interesting that i thought the people here could appreciate:
Did you know that bees dance? When they find a new food source and return to the hive they do a 'Waggle' dance that tells the other scout bees where to find the new food. Its actually quite complex and amazing. for one thing, the different elements of the dance indicate the specific angle the food is located at, the distance from the hive, what direction it is at, etc. All this in one little dance. They even bring samples of the food back for others to taste the quality.
Another reason it is unique is because, typically, in animal communication, animals cannot refer to something that is not present. Yet bees can clearly do this by communicating about where a food source is. on top of this, this waggle dance isnt just a reaction to finding a new food source, they don't just do it because its innate. Researchers found that if a bee returned to an empty hive after it found new food, it didn't bother doing this dance suggesting that it's in fact a true communication, it's done with meaning and purpose.
Anyway, that's all, i wont bore you anymore haha but if ou cant tell from this little para, communication, especially animal, isnt as simple as you may think.

I think bees are really cute and fluffy. I've been stung a number of times when I was younger and am mildly allergic to them so people think I'm crazy for liking them, but it's great to see I'm not alone and so many other people like bees too! My neighbour has a bee hive which is fantastic, but unfortunately we have a pool and I find a lot struggling in the pool or already dead. I always try and get the alive ones out as soon as possible.

Yes, it is nice to see others like bees. But I wonder if they are referring to honeybees, wild solitary or hive ones, or bumble bees. Bumble are my favourite. It is nice to pet (stroke/caress) their back when they are on a flower - they don't seem to mind ;-)

Bees are very docile if you know how to treat them, my family actually keeps bees :) The trick is not to agitate them or go near them when you are angry/upset. They can sense it and will be afraid that you want to hurt them

Did you know that according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly? It's wings are too small to get its fat little body off of the ground. But the bee, of course, flies anyway, because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Bee - "Hello to kids in Germany"

Hello beekeeping kids in Germany. We are a group of children in US who are beekeepers and wish to (snail mail) begin a penpal group with German kids to discuss old world beekeeping. In USA beekeepers must use removable frames- do German beekeepers still use skeps? There are very few items on the web to see methods now used in other countries.
We have 10 kids and our club is growing, so even a group of school biology students might work. An idea would be for German kids to study beekeeping and send us information learned about honey bees.

Hello Lisa,

even though my uncle used to have bees, I know precious little about the subject. However, there is a beekeeping club at the school at which I teach, and if you want, I can try to get you in touch with them. I might have to do some interpreting, but that might be just the kind of contact you're looking for, and a great opportunity for our kids.
Contact me if you want to know more.

Regards,

Steffen

Hello, Bees only sting when threatened (like when we step on them or swat at them) so if we respect the bees, they are not likely to sting. If a bee lands on you, blow it off and it will think the wind is blowing it instead of a threat of your hand hitting it.
Honey bees know instinctively that they will die if they sting you, so they are conservative with their stingers.

I think bees are so cool! It might be a weird favorite animal, but I love them! I think bumblebees are especially cute because they are fluffy and are not aggressive. I love bees but I hate when they sting me. Trust me, I've been stung multiple times, but I can't stay away! I love how they buzz around and land on flowers! They are so cute! I am a little too obsessed. I wonder how they make pollen into honey. Buzzy!🐝

Merci
Et vivent les abeilles et le bon miel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bee - "Life as a Bee"

Bees have yellow and black stripes they have a stringer I their back once a bee stings someone it will later die or its stringer will later fall off and eventally grow back it may take up to 6 months at the longest and 2 months at the shorest. The sting will hurt but hurt more if the stinger get stuck in your skin. Some bee stings can be poisons but others not. Some people say bee stings hurt more than wasp stings. Bees will make a buzzing noise if they are getting ready to sting alomost like flys but flys dont have stingers that will sting.
