|
Hello all,
I have been very interested to see this website and the wonderful teachers there are around the world. We are a major Australian television network who are making a new documentary tv program, in which troubled Australian 16 and 17 year olds are sent overseas to live with a host family for eights days.
The teenagers have typically gone "off-the-rails" - they're having difficulties at school, they're smoking and drinking, they're materialistic, their relationship with their parents has broken down and they have very few boundaries they won't cross. Troubled kids but not inherently "bad" kids.
In each episode two teenagers are sent overseas to live with a host family to experience a different culture and a different approach to parenting. The host parents have a passion for good parenting, with teenagers/s of their own. They enforce discipline, structure and strong values and reward achievement.
The goal is to give the teenagers a wake-up call and a transformative experience. They attend the local school in their destination, attend the family's church, help out with a local charity and abide by the family's rules.
The show is not intended to be religious per se but invariably these host families have a strong sense of faith and moral purpose.
Ultimately the show is about the value of family, good parenting and strong relationships.
WE ARE SEARCHING FOR POTENTIAL OVERSEAS HOST FAMILIES who would be willing to take in two difficult teens - and be filmed during the experience. We will pay for the teenagers food and any activities. We will also make a set donation to the charity, church or cause of the families choice.
The countries we are looking for families in are: Greece, Italy, UK, South Africa, Singapore, Brazil, USA.
I am hoping that some of you wonderful teachers may know of parents who would consider being a part of our program. If so, please pass on my details to them and they can email at their leisure. Email: familyswap@live.com.au or Tel: +61 2 9518 9220.
All the very best
