| | My wife and I are U.S. citizens who are providing volunteer educational services to students in a remote part of Entre Rios, Argentina. We have 10 students ranging in age from 4 to 11 years. They attend a small primary school on a ranch here and we provide supplemental classes outside of school hours. We're teaching beginning English and computing skills. We would very much like to get our students in contact with students from another culture. One of our goals is to awaken in our students a new curiosity about the world and a desire to learn new things. Our students come from a disadvantaged background with little access to books, computers, etc. They do (perhaps unfortunately) have access to television. At our little learning center we have several computers and a good internet connection. I would be very excited to open a correspondence between our students and yours. Our students English abilities at this time are very limited, but we are more than happy to provide translation in both directions, therefore, your students could write in English and our in Spanish. Perhaps at some future time we do a face to face via Skype between classrooms. Let me know what you think. I'll be more than happy to provide more details and answer any questions you may have. |
