Enseignant : "Hello"

My name is Lizned M. Rivera. I am 33 years old, a mother of three children, born and raised on the island of Puerto Rico. Currently, I am working as an ESL teacher for Special Education students in a content classroom in Puerto Rico. I love to read, sing, and make new friends. I hold a BS in Forensic Science with two minors: one in Chemistry and the second in Teaching Secondary Biology. Also, a master’s degree in teaching English as a Second Language. I enrolled in an advanced degree program to continue learning and acquire the knowledge and skills to benefit my student’s language proficiency. Since my students have different disabilities and limitations, I could say that even with a master’s degree, as an educator, one must consider pursuing an advanced degree program for several reasons. Firstly, the field of education is constantly evolving with new research, teaching methods, strategies, and techniques. An advanced degree program can allow me to stay updated with these teaching innovations. Secondly, it can deepen my understanding of pedagogical theories, enhancing my student’s knowledge through practice and teaching effectiveness. Lastly, it can provide new career opportunities, such as leadership roles within the education sector here on the island. Thus, continuous learning is beneficial and essential for me as an educator.
