I'll have about 40 students in 2010 that are 8 - 10 years old. They are beginners. I have a project of interchanging cultural information by snail mail and I hope that we can work together. Recently I read a book to them about koalas and Australia. I discovered that many of them weren't familiar with Australia. So I figured that they could learn firsthand through penpals. One of my students, a nine year old girl, would like to practice reading/writing English (she has been learning English from the age of 4 and is very clever, so it should work). To start with a topic is a good idea, as this topic is part of our curriculum. Would it be possible to find a penpal among your students, who would be interested in continuing this in general?
