| Subject: Request for Penpal Collaboration with Our Swedish Fourth Grade Students
Dear Sir/ Madam,
My name is Shaza Maraka and I am an English teacher at St Iliansskolan in Enköping, Sweden. I am reaching out to explore the possibility of setting up a penpal exchange between our fourth-grade students and students at your school.
I teach two groups of ten-year-old students, 4A with 15 pupils and 4B with 17 pupils, for a total of 33 students. Our students have varying levels of English proficiency:
• Some are confident and advanced for their age.
• Others are at an intermediate level.
• A few are still developing their skills and benefit greatly from additional practice.
We have English lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and our aim is to provide students with meaningful and engaging opportunities to improve their language skills while learning about other cultures. A penpal exchange would be an excellent way for them to practice writing, reading, and cultural understanding in a real-world context.
We envision this as a traditional, written correspondence where students exchange letters. Suggested topics for the exchange could include:
• Daily life and school routines.
• Local culture, traditions, and holidays.
• Hobbies, interests, and favorite activities.
If your students might be interested in participating, I would love to discuss this further and tailor the program to suit both groups. Please let me know if you would like additional information about our school or our students.
Looking forward to the possibility of working together.
Best regards,
Best regards,
Shaza Maraka
