I have 24 diverse students, some are from the city and some are from the surrounding suburbs. Our school emphasizes arts integration in our lessons, so we get to have some fun with the arts while we learn. Every year our school has a theme and this year our school's theme is "harmony." I know that Australia celebrates "harmony day" which celebrate diversity and everyone belonging. That is the spirit of our theme for this year. I was wondering if we might be able to be digital pen pals with your students. I would have to check with my technology teacher about whether or not the students could email each other directly on the school account or if I would have to send the letters to you to print out. Sierra Leone is one of the countries in west Africa that has went through rebel war, Ebola and recently mud slide and flooding. I am writing on behalf of our School "CIDS NEW HOPE" PREPARATORY SCHOOL. CIDS NEW HOPE SCHOOL Is a private school established to provide cheaper but effective private school system of education for orphans and underprivileged children from poorer homes within the hillsides of Wellington Freetown. The School has a population of 105 children and 60% of them are orphans. 40% of them are underprivileged children. The school provides free education for the orphans and the parents of the underprivileged children pays $ 50.00 USD for the whole of the academic year. These children are very eager to learn about other children around the world but they cannot afford to pay the high cost snail mail postage expenses. They also want school to help the 'NEW HOPE SCHOOL" . The "CIDS NEW HOPE SCHOOL" is a CIDS4KIDS organization school. Visit wwww.cids4kidsleone.simplesite.com. 117306 - Réponse de Sheena (Canada) - 2017-08-13 Hi Laura, I am guessing this is probably too late for the fall, but I am interested in setting up pen pals for my students this year, roughly 25 Grade 6/7 students, ages 11-12, so one of the year 6 classes would be perfect for my students. We can begin in mid-September, or we could begin in the second part of our year when your next school year would be beginning, if you are interested in doing this again for the following year. I would like them to experience both snail mail and email, so I was hoping that the initial communication would be snail mail, then after that we could switch to email, or continue with a combination of the two.
