Bleach-The Anime - Soul Society Characters

FIRST DIVISION

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto is the captain of the 1st Division in the Gotei 13 and also the Head-Captain of the whole Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Chōjirō Sasakibe.

Chōjirō Sasakibe

Chōjirō Sasakibe is the lieutenant of the 1st Division, under the command of Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto. He has kept this post for at least 110 years.

SECOND DIVISION

Suė-Fēng (Soifon)

Suė-Fēng, sometimes romanized as Soifon, is the commander-in-chief of the Onmitsukidō and the captain of the 2nd Division in the Gotei 13. Her lieutenant is Marechiyo Ōmaeda.

Marechiyo Ōmaeda

Marechiyo Ōmaeda is the lieutenant of the Second Division, under Captain Suė-Fēng. He is also the Corps Commander of the Patrol Corps in the Onmitsukidō.

THIRD DIVISION

Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi (Rose)

Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi, more commonly referred to as Rose, is a captain of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13 and is a Visored.

Izuru Kira

Izuru Kira, sometimes romanized as Iduru Kira, is the Lieutenant of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13, under Captain Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi.

Gin Ichimaru

Gin Ichimaru was the Captain of the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 until he betrayed Soul Society, alongside Sōsuke Aizen and Kaname Tōsen. His lieutenant was Izuru Kira.

FOURTH DIVISION

Retsu Unohana

Retsu Unohana is the captain of the Fourth Division in the Gotei 13. She is one of the oldest and most experienced captains, and is the Soul Society's best healer. Her lieutenant is Isane Kotetsu.

Isane Kotetsu

Isane Kotetsu is the lieutenant of the 4th Division, the medical and supply relief division, in Gotei 13 under Captain Retsu Unohana.

Yasochika Iemura

Yasochika Iemura is the 3rd seated officer of the 4th Division, and the leader of the first relief team serving under Captain Retsu Unohana. He is also the Vice-President of the Shinigami Men's Association.

Hanatarō Yamada

Hanatarō Yamada is the 7th Seated officer of the Gotei 13's 4th Division, where he is also the leader of the 14th Advanced Relief Team.

FIFTH DIVISION

Shinji Hirako

Shinji Hirako is the captain of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13. He also served as a recruiter and the de facto leader of the Visored.

Momo Hinamori

Momo Hinamori is the lieutenant of the 5th Division, formerly under captain Sōsuke Aizen, currently under captain Shinji Hirako.

Sōsuke Aizen

Sōsuke Aizen is the former captain of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13; he later leaves Soul Society with his followers, Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tōsen. His lieutenant was Momo Hinamori. He was the main antagonist from the start of the series to the conclusion of the Fake Karakura Town arc.

SIXTH DIVISION

Byakuya Kuchiki

Byakuya Kuchiki is the 28th head of the noble Kuchiki Clan, one of the four great noble families in Soul Society. He is also the captain of the 6th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Renji Abarai. He is also Rukia's older brother.

Renji Abarai

Renji Abarai is the lieutenant of the 6th Division in the Gotei 13 under Captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Renji is about as eccentric as any other Soul Reaper. Willing to fight, kill, and die for whatever he believes in, Renji is a dangerous man to those who stand in his way. He's also the only Vice Captain to achieve bankai.

SEVENTH DIVISION

Sajin Komamura

Sajin Komamura is the captain of the 7th Division. His lieutenant is Tetsuzaemon Iba. In contrast to his physical stature, Komamura has a heart of gold, as well as being a loyal and grateful subordinate to Captain-Commander Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, to whom he owes great gratitude for overriding the rules of Gotei 13 and taking him in.

Tetsuzaemon Iba

Tetsuzaemon Iba is the lieutenant of the 7th Division of the Gotei 13, under Captain Sajin Komamura. He and Ikkaku Madarame seem to have something of a working relationship, though it consists mainly of them dueling, drinking sake, then dueling again to see who has to get more.

EIGHTH DIVISION

Shunsui Kyōraku

Shunsui Kyōraku, sometimes romanized as Syunsui Kyōraku, is the Captain of the 8th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Nanao Ise. Kyōraku is a laid back and flamboyant man, evident in his style of dress and general attitude, and he is rarely seen without a smile on his lips. Other times, he likes to chase after women, particularly his lieutenant, Nanao Ise.

Nanao Ise

Nanao Ise is the lieutenant of the Eighth Division of the Gotei 13, under Captain Shunsui Kyōraku, and Vice-President of the Shinigami Women's Association.

NINTH DIVISION

Kensei Muguruma

Kensei Muguruma is the captain of the 9th Division in the Gotei 13 and he is a Visored. Kensei is a serious and decisive individual, though he is easily annoyed and is rather temperamental, often to a fault. He is greatly annoyed by immaturity.

Shūhei Hisagi

Shūhei Hisagi is the lieutenant of the 9th Division, formerly under Captain Kaname Tōsen and currently under Captain Kensei Muguruma.

Kaname Tôsen

Kaname Tôsen was formerly the Captain of the 9th Division of the Gotei 13. He was revealed as a co-conspirator working for Sôsuke Aizen and left Soul Society along with him and Gin Ichimaru. He then became a Commander in Aizen's Army of Arrancar.

TENTH DIVISION

Toshiro Hitsugaya

Tōshirō Hitsugaya is the Captain of the 10th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Rangiku Matsumoto.
Tōshirō Hitsugaya is short, has turquoise eyes and short, spiked, white hair, which tends to draw attention in the Human World.

Rangiku Matsumoto

Rangiku Matsumoto is Lieutenant of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13, serving under Captain Tôshirô Hitsugaya. Rangiku has long and wavy blond hair, blue eyes, full lips, and a beauty mark located under the right side of her mouth. She is well-known for her curvaceous figure, her most distinctive feature of it is her very large breasts.

ELEVENTH DIVISION

Kenpachi Zaraki

Kenpachi Zaraki is the current captain of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13. He is the eleventh Kenpachi to hold that position. His lieutenant is Yachiru Kusajishi. Zaraki killed Kenpachi Kiganjō, the captain of the 11th Division, in a single blow, in front of over two hundred members of the Division. Zaraki became the new captain of that division. By killing Kenpachi Kiganjō, Zaraki became the eleventh person to hold the title of Kenpachi.

Yachiru Kusajishi

Yachiru Kusajishi is the Lieutenant of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13, under Captain Kenpachi Zaraki, as well as the President of the Shinigami Women's Association. Yachiru is child-like in most aspects - she is small, cheerful, energetic, and carefree most of the time. She is often seen latched onto the back of her captain, Kenpachi Zaraki.

Ikkaku Madarame

Ikkaku Madarame is the 3rd Seat of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13. His captain is Kenpachi Zaraki. Ikkaku is a tall and lean-built man sporting a bald head, and is in fact made fun of by a lot of people.

Yumichika Ayasegawa

Yumichika Ayasegawa is the 5th Seated officer in the 11th Division of the Gotei 13, under captain Kenpachi Zaraki. He has shiny skin, purple eyes, and jaw-length black hair, which, in conjunction with the feathers, gives him a somewhat feminine appearance.

Maki Ichinose

Maki Ichinose is an antagonist in the Bount Invasion and is a former member of the 11th Division, under the former captain Kenpachi Kiganjō that Kenpachi Zaraki killed and replaced. Ichinose is a man with a strong sense of duty and justice, believing strongly that those with great power should use it for more noble causes than just self-satisfaction.

TWELFTH DIVISION

Mayuri Kurotsuchi

Mayuri Kurotsuchi is Captain of the 12th Division in the Gotei 13 and 2nd president of the Shinigami Research Institute. His lieutenant is Nemu Kurotsuchi, his artificially-created "daughter". Mayuri's appearance has a skeletal-like look to it with a skull-like visage.

Nemu Kurotsuchi

Nemu Kurotsuchi is the lieutenant of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13 serving under Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Lieutenant Kurotsuchi Nemu is an artificial entity created from the Gigai technology and gikon technology by Captain Kurotsuchi. The same blood flows in Nemu and Captain Kurotsuchi.

THIRTEENTH DIVISION

Jūshirō Ukitake

Jūshirō Ukitake is the captain of the 13th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Rukia Kuchiki. Ukitake is a tall man with a somewhat emaciated appearance, caused by an illness which occasionally causes him to cough up blood. Because of his illness, he often spends his time recuperating at Ugendō, his
family's estate.

Rukia Kuchiki

Rukia Kuchiki is the lieutenant of the 13th Division under Captain Jūshirō Ukitake. Rukia is the younger sister of Hisana Kuchiki, the adoptive sister of Byakuya Kuchiki and a friend of Ichigo Kurosaki.

Kaien Shiba

Kaien Shiba was the lieutenant of the 13th Division, under Jūshirō Ukitake, up until his death at the hands of a Hollow that also killed his wife, Miyako Shiba. He was the brother of Kūkaku and Ganju.
