Point of view is CRUCIAl to any book. It's how the story is told.
There are three different points of view:
- first person
-second person
-third person omniscient
First person:
This is when it's you talking. For example: I hit the ground running, my lungs groaning for air.
First person is very narrow. You can only talk about you. It's exciting to read in, though, because readers feel like they can relate.
Second person:
This point of view is extremely rare and awkward to write in. Example: You hit the ground running, your lungs groaning for air.
If you've ever read "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, that's really where it's mostly used.
Third Person Omniscient:
This is when it's someone else and readers are essentially reading their thoughts, you might say. Example: Laura hit the ground running, her lungs groaning for air. This perspective is fun to write in because the reader can see the characters' thoughts about each other that said characters don't know. This p.o.v. shows up a LOT in books with multiple main characters. |
