Here are tips for writers! There will be tips for books, stories and poems! I hope they help.
Tip One!

Make a "bible." Here you put in the names, appearances, character traits...etc of your characters so they don't suddenly have blue eyes instead of green. Also, write down your facts and unusual things. If you have unusual spellings, use names because of their meanings...etc write this down.

Example:

Sophia means wisdom. You can use this in a story.
Serafim, Serafina...etc means to burn. Also a nice one to use.
Amia means beloved. Again, usable.

See, you can choose names not only because they're pretty but also because their meaning helps your story. Also, don't name your character before you decide what he/she is like. You may find yourself stuck in the story.

Example:

Name a character Melody or something else sweet and then make her an emo or a mean girl. That just doesn't work with the name.

That's it for now. Please do not copy the examples. Try and find your own ideas. Thank you.
Tip two!

Use household chores as thinking time. Think of things in your story/book of what you're not sure yet. Walking the dog or vacuuming the carpet can provide more ideas than you expect. It's like...daydreaming. It doesn't help while sitting and staring at the wall, you need to move and do something in order to get ideas.

Tip three!

In the opening of your book/story:

Show us your main characters, or at least foreshadow them.

Example:

We might see your heroine's mother getting married. Or we might see a crime committed which will bring in your hero to investigate.

Show us who's the “good guy,” who's the “bad guy.” Whose side are we on? You can write a story from the eyes of a killer and make it great.

Show what's at stake. Editors and readers want to know this right away. What does the hero stand to gain or lose? What will follow if the villain wins?

Establish the setting--where and when the story takes place.
Establish the area of conflict.

Foreshadow the ending. If the hero dies in a blizzard at the end, a few flakes of snow may fall in the first chapter.

Set the tone of the story: solemn or excited, humorous or tragic.
Tip four!

In the body of your story:

Develop your characters through action and dialogue. Show us, don't tell us, what's going on and why.

Example:

not He was loud and rude, but “Get outa my way, you jerk!” he bellowed

Include all the elements you need for your conclusion. If everything depends on killing the victim with a shotgun, show us the shotgun long before it goes off.

Give your characters good reasons to act and talk the way they do. Drama is people doing amazing things for very good reasons. Melodrama is people doing amazing things for bad or nonexistent reasons.

Develop the plot as a series of increasingly serious problems. Establish suspense by making solution of the problems uncertain.
