Red pandas, which resemble raccoons, are about 42 inches long, including a long, bushy tail. They weigh between seven and 14 pounds. Their red-and-white markings blend in with the red mosses and white lichens that grow on the trees in which they live.Red pandas are endangered because of habitat loss. There are fewer than 2,500 adult red pandas.

The white rhino once roamed much of sub-Saharan Africa, but today is on the verge of extinction due to poaching fueled by these commercial uses. Only about 11,000 white rhinos survive in the wild, and many organizations are working to protect this much loved animal.

Native to the Central Asian mountains, the snow leopard is a rare sight, with only about 6,000 left in the wild. They are hunted for their beautiful, warm fur and for their organs, which are used in traditional Chinese medicine.

The bumblebee bat (or the Kitti's hog-nosed bat) may be the smallest mammal in the world, reaching only up to 33 mm and weighing only 1.7 to 2 grams, which is about the weight of a dime. It is found in Thailand (a more recent population has been found in Myanmar). The current population of this little guy is between 200 and 2000.
