She told me things and showed me pictures of Zaporozhye, and i adored that! I also imagine that people are good too..and she's a perfect example of that! I love her and this relationship is sufficient for me to tell that Ukraine is worth visiting...at least to see her ..:-)== Crash (Ukraine) - 04/01/2007 : Everybody from Ukraine writes that they really love their country. So do I. But I think it's wrong to write that everything is perfect here. It's quite poor country. and it is poor because of our government - our deputies try to steal from the national amount of money as much as they can. They don't take care of our people. Of course, there are some of them who really do this, but only SOME....I'll try to do sth good for my country in the nearest future. People in Ukraine are really very hospitable and kind, but here are also 'bad' people as everywhere in the world - it's not the holy land. What is really beautiful here - nature. These endless fields, blue sky, fresh air of the native land (no matter where you are from)... And of course, our national cuisine - it's marvellous! You should really see and try all this. I was immediately struck by the beauty and character of the city and its inhabitants, how well dressed many of the beautiful women are (they would be considered over-dressed in Australia but it is refreshing to see so many people take such efforts with their appearance). I have read a lot about the warmth and hospitality of Kiev but, to be honest, I have found customer service staff in all types of businesses quite rude. My nationality is very obviously not Ukrainian yet staff become immediately impatient if I don't understand what they are saying. I've been to a few bars and clubs and found the crowd generally not terribly friendly (contrary to what I've read everywhere). My host told me that a taxi fare from the city centre to Podol district should be about UAH 30 so when a taxi driver told me it was going to be UAH 50 I said, 'That's too much!' He replied, 'Too much? Okay, 60!' Contrast all this to my wonderful, warm Ukrainian hosts and their friends/staff and I can only conclude that you have to know these the Ukrainians to experience all their best qualities. Does this mean I don't like it here?
