As part of a project in English (ESL) my Swedish students (aged 16) would like to get in touch with American youngsters to find out what it is like to be young in the US today. The students have learnt English for at least 7 years and will be writing an article about the lives of American teens today. Perhaps we can co-operate in some way in other projects as well? Im starting to teach english to a group of 12 yo tomorrow and my plan is to start a pen pal program for atleast a year to get the motivation up in wanting to produce text in english.
We live in the middle of sweden and are interested in either finding penpals from around the world also learning english or to find english speaking students who are interested in learning about life in other countries so that you dont mind that my students are still learning the language.

Je suis professeur de francais dans un collège international dans une banlieue résidentielle au sud de Stockholm. Je suis à la recherche d'un partenaire pour un échange avec un collège en France pour mes élèves de 14-15 ans soit l'équivalent de la classe de troisième en France. Notre établissement est semi-privé, c'est à dire en régie privée mais financé par la municipalité. L'enseignement se fait à majorité en anglais sauf pour quelques matières (Suédois et sciences sociales). Nos élèves parlent très bien anglais et sont motivés et sérieux pour la plupart.
Je recherche un collège en France de préférence en milieu urbain ou semi urbain avec des élèves qui peuvent communiquer assez librement en anglais.
J'ai fait un échange avec une école de Lille pendant 14 ans. Cette expérience me permet de connaitre les "dos and the don'ts" pour un échange réussi.

My name is Anneli and I teach a class of 23 students, 13-14 year olds in English in a school in the Sweden.I'm looking for a class (about the same number of students) somewhere in the world who have been studying English for 4-5 years as their second language and would like to develop their English skills and knowledge about other cultures/people.I'd like to correspond during a year or so from now on. I've done this kind of correspondance before and it's so fascinating to see how the students love this work.
I think that it's a special feeling about getting a letter in your hand that someone has written just for you, so the first letter would preferably be sent by snailmail to the school.Later on I think the easiest way to handle all this must be that we e-mail each other (all the letters), make a list of penpals and send the letters to our students at the same time. This is a suggestion of how we could work:
* First letter; A presentation of the student and questions to the penpal
* Second letter: Write about your country and where you live, questions
* Third letter: Culture and traditions, music,foo etc.
* Fourth letter: A presentation about a special subject e.g inventor, musician, explorer...
Maybe you have more ideas but 3-4 letters would be a great start and after that the students can go on writing if they like. Are you interested? I hope so, then write to me.

Hello! We are a small school situated in Södertälje, just outside Stockholm in Sweden. We are looking for a school who would like to create a one year exchange for our 28 pupils in the 8th Grade (14-15 years old). The main purpose is to improve spoken English skills by using English as the contact language, as well as learning about another country's culture by living with their "penpal's" family during their stay.
We fund travel and expenses ourselves through various fundraising activities.
We do it like this:
- Pupils fill out "all about me" questionnaires, which we send to the partner school.
- We "pair" the pupils according to interests and requirements in the questionnaires.
- Skype and email contact.
- First exchange (1 week), with pupils staying with their designated penpal as the host family during the Autumn Term.
- Second exchange (1 week) with pupils staying with their designated penpal as the host family during the Spring Term.

We have just started a project in Geography called Europe. The students are making a tourist brochure about all the countries in Europe and it would be great to receive letters and pictures from them all. But we are always interested in letters from the rest of the world as well! In our English classes we have just read about India, festivals, Hinduism, some Gods etc.... so write to us... wherever you are :-)

Hi. I have a class here i Sweden that is looking for penpals from an English speaking country, preferably in the USA. I have 22 5th graders in the age 11-12 (15 boys and 6 girls). We would like to exchange snail mails in English - send a parcel with letters from all the pupils in the class (and other things like pictures, coins, stamps, candy/sweets, stickers etc.) every other month. The kids I'm teaching are in the 8th grade ,14 years old and have soon been studying french for two years. (à 200km de Stockholm) Nous préparons nos élèves pour un Bac technique/sciences. Nous travaillons sur le développement durable. They are not native English speakers but many of them are quite advanced in English for their age (I think). We'd like to have penpals at one school and any country is fine as long as they can communicate in English with each other.
