Psychologist - "Psychologue"

Psychology has always been a career path at the back of my mind, however, I have been hindered a number of times due to circumnstances that were out of my control.

I am now in the position where I can opt to follow the path of becoming a Psychologist and it would be interesting finding other fellow colleagues who are also embarking on the same dream. If you are interested in getting in touch then, do not hesitate in replying this message and I will be in touch as soon as I can.

Psychology teaches us about who we are as individuals, it teaches many things that can help other people see who they are as individuals, the formation of their identity and how they can provide a meaningful existence to their inner being.

Hello!
I'm really interested in psychology and it's definitely a career path i'm considering going to college for. I wanted to come on to this forum to ask some current/former psychology majors about their experiences and get some advice for college in the future. Basically, I want someone who has experience to tell me about how challenging the courses are in college, to hear more about the college application process, what I should be during my high school years to prepare, and so on. If anyone is interested in chatting with me about all of this, please leave a comment or message me privately.
Thank you so much :)

HI! I am currently a psychology major over here in Iowa. Psychology is not necessarily a hard subject. The classes are actually kind of easy but what we will work with will be hard. Personally, applying to my college was easy (its a state school) so the acceptance rate is pretty high. I recommend taking some college classes during high school if that's an option for you. I took a lot of psychology classes through my high school and it really helped me figure out that its what I wanted to do.

Psychologist - "Psychologist Versus Psychiatrist (the more you know!)"

I want to start off by saying I'm not trying to be rude or "smart".
Maybe in your country that is the difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist. Here, the difference is a doctorate degree. Mentally ill patients can be defined as those with behavioral disorders or even substance abuse because it is cognitive function that is impaired psychologically. So that's not a difference. The MAIN difference is that a psychiatrist can prescribe medication and a psychologist can't. The psychologist can only prescribe medication after a doctorate degree (PsyD or PhD) so they have the medical aspect of the profession. A psychologist is still a psychologist if they treat mentally ill patients, they do not only do research. In fact, more psychiatrists do research with the doctorate because they are then allowed to administer medications for studies. I have scholarly references/sources (from my country) to help you better understand if you need to. I'm a psychology student and a scholar with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars here in America with a 4.0 GPA (only because my college doesn't have higher than 4.0).

Nice to meet you all! Feel free to message me!

I would love to be an art therapist, I've always had a strong connection with art and expressing ones self though visual representations of emotion. I'm some ways I believe it to be more efficient than the simple psychiatry (word of mouth). I think as people we focus too much on what's being said opposed to what's not therefore overlooking the fundamental elements that may determine ones state of mind and psychological well being or not so much, I'm currently taking psychology at GCSE
