Salut Harmonie!

Dites-moi.
Andy.

Hello!
I'm really interested in psychology and it's definitely a career path i'm considering going to college for. I wanted to come on to this forum to ask some current/former psychology majors about their experiences and get some advice for college in the future. Basically, I want someone who has experience to tell me about how challenging the courses are in college, to hear more about the college application process, what I should be during my high school years to prepare, and so on. If anyone is interested in chatting with me about all of this, please leave a comment or message me privately.
Thank you so much :)

HI! I am currently a psychology major over here in Iowa. Psychology is not necessarily a hard subject. The classes are actually kind of easy but what we will work with will be hard. Personally, applying to my college was easy (its a state school) so the acceptance rate is pretty high. I recommend taking some college classes during high school if that's an option for you. I took a lot of psychology classes through my high school and it really helped me figure out that its what I wanted to do.

Psychologist - "Psychologist Versus Psychiatrist (the more you know!)"

I want to start off by saying I'm not trying to be rude or "smart".
Maybe in your country that is the difference between a psychologist and psychiatrist. Here, the difference is a doctorate degree. Mentally ill patients can be defined as those with behavioral disorders or even substance abuse because it is cognitive function that is impaired psychologically. So that's not a difference. The MAIN difference is that a psychiatrist can prescribe medication and a psychologist can't. The psychologist can only prescribe medication after a doctorate degree (PsyD or PhD) so they have the medical aspect of the profession. A psychologist is still a psychologist if they treat mentally ill patients, they do not only do research. In fact, more psychiatrists do research with the doctorate because they are then allowed to administer medications for studies. I have scholarly references/sources (from my country) to help you better understand if you need to. I'm a psychology student and a scholar with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars here in America with a 4.0 GPA (only because my college doesn't have higher than 4.0).

Psychologist - "Psychology"

Is anyone currently obtaining their psychology degree. Im in my last year and am currently working with people with severe mental illness. I would like to talk with someone that already understands the human mind.
