Others school - "Looking for families for Australian television documentary"

Hello all,
I have been very interested to see this website and the wonderful teachers there are around the world. We are a major Australian television network who are making a new documentary tv program, in which troubled Australian 16 and 17 year olds are sent overseas to live with a host family for eights days.

The teenagers have typically gone "off-the-rails" - they're having difficulties at school, they're smoking and drinking, they're materialistic, their relationship with their parents has broken down and they have very few boundaries they won't cross. Troubled kids but not inherently "bad" kids.

In each episode two teenagers are sent overseas to live with a host family to experience a different culture and a different approach to parenting. The host parents have a passion for good parenting, with teenagers/s of their own. They enforce discipline, structure and strong values and reward achievement.

The goal is to give the teenagers a wake-up call and a transformative experience. They attend the local school in their destination, attend the family's church, help out with a local charity and abide by the family's rules.

The show is not intended to be religious per se but invariably these host families have a strong sense of faith and moral purpose.

Ultimately the show is about the value of family, good parenting and strong relationships.

WE ARE SEARCHING FOR POTENTIAL OVERSEAS HOST FAMILIES who would be willing to take in two difficult teens - and be filmed during the experience. We will pay for the teenagers food and any activities. We will also make a set donation to the charity, church or cause of the families choice.

The countries we are looking for families in are: Greece, Italy, UK, South Africa, Singapore, Brazil, USA.

I am hoping that some of you wonderful teachers may know of parents who would consider being a part of our program. If so, please pass on my details to them and they can email at their leisure. Email: familyswap@live.com.au or Tel: +61 2 9518 9220.

All the very best

Primary school - "Looking for whole grades/ levels of E - Pals"

Hello,
I am ideally looking for International E - Pals for students at our Primary School, but would happily take replies from Aussie schools (preferably from outside Victoria) also.

I need a teacher/s or school, who have a whole grade(20+), multiple grades of the same Year level or a whole level of children aged between 8 - 12 to communicate with our students. I would like the kids to learn about other cultures and places from their own.

Our E-Pals must be able to communicate in English as we do not speak any other language unfortunately!
I realise that the Northern Hemisphere year has nearly finished and am willing to begin in September if it makes it easier (our year runs through to late December).

I am really sorry that I will be unable to accomodate replies from individuals as I really need whole grades.

We are a Catholic Primary school situated by the beach near Melbourne and it would be just fantastic to recieve a reply from anyone!
Sorry to sound fussy but I really do need numbers to enable this project to work.
Thanks for taking the time to read my rather long ad! Have a great day!

Hi, I teach a group of 16 - 18 year old students at a school for the intellectually disabled in Wodonga, Victoria, Australia. They are undertaking a course in computer technology and are learning about sending emails. Is there a school in England, perhaps grade 5 or 6 at primary school, who would like to be penpals via email with my students?

Primary school - "Primary School Class of Penpals wanted from China"

Hello, I am a year 5 class (9-10 year olds) teacher (28 students) at a government school in Australia.

We are currently learning about China in class this term. I would love to organise for my class to write letters by post only (snail mail) to another class of similar age about life in Australia, to find out about the life and culture of China and your school in order to support our learning of your country.

Please only reply if you are serious and your students are able to write to my class in Australia, for at least 10 weeks (our school term), or the year if possible.

Thank you!

I am a grade 6 (10-12 year olds) teacher in a primary school situated north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. My class are looking at investigating countries around the world beginning around April 23rd. Ideally, I would like the students to write to other students the same age from another class in a different culture so that they can share their understandings of their own culture/country and also learn about differing cultures/countries.
I myself am originally from England but spent much of my life travelling and/or working in the USA, Canada, The Caribbean, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the Pacific Islands before entering the teaching profession and I also enjoy learning about different cultures.
Please email me if you are interested.
