: "Twinning with Japanese students"

My primary school wants to establish a penpal/twinning program for our students learning Japanese. We have 400 students from Year 3 to Year 6 (about 10 -12 years old) learning Japanese. I would like to set up opportunities for students to correspond by letter, email or video chat, and run joint classroom lessons.

Hi!

My name is James Lara, a 5th grade teacher from Tokyo YMCA International School. We have a Community Service activity (Kamishibai - Japanese folktale in English and Japanese) that I am planning for my students to present to a penpal school audience. From today, June 1, only have 3-weeks before school ends on June 19th, so this is a good end-of-year activity for my kids to do to share their culture in both English and Japanese.

Since Japan is an hour advanced, we can definitely schedule a Skype conference where our students can talk to each other on different topics (aside from our presentation of a Kamishibai Japanese folktale).

Hope you are interested!

James
