Actualities : "Piracy"

It seems that piracy off the coast of Somalia has captured the world's attention. These people are poverty stricken and looking for a way to survive and have turned to crime to solve their problems. Some might even say that they are acting as Robbin Hood stealing from rich oil companies and European shipping companies. However, it remains that these actions are illegal under international maritime law.
How do you feel about the pirates of Somalia? Should military/police action be taken against them or should a humanitarian effort to stabilize Somalia politically and economically be launched? Should both approaches be combined?

I agree Akram. I believe that support at the local level would probably be best. In my opinion it is better to help the government punish the pirates and then try to help the general Somali citizenry. Also, just to clarify I do not personally think they are acting as Robin Hood, I have just heard that argument in some of the media. Thank you for pointing out that they are only trying to get money for themselves and not for the general citizens of the country.

the sollution is in suporting local goverments inside somalia , and achive peace in somalia in general ,it's not right in every possible way to practise piracy , and most somalians know that , and are against it ,the local goverments like in "pontland" (nrth somalia) are fighting piracy and they look at'em as enemies , but they don't have the tools to finish it in somalia , so the sollution is in supprting local gvrments inside somalia
ps : the somalis citizens are against pirates and pirates can't be discribed as robin hood because they didn't gave the money to poors or share it...
